Acorn People with interchangeable hair and hats

Posted on October 28, 2013 by Shawna Chandler | 0 comments

As we were walking near the Picnic house in Prospect Park the other day we stumbled upon an unusual type of acorn from the Burr Oak with shaggy, hair-like caps. We scooped up a handful and did this little craft project.

Now just paint some faces onto the acorns and paint the caps as you'd like.  The toothpicks worked great for the fine detailing and are easy to insert to make a "neck" to hold them upright.  These would be a lot of fun paired with play dough  but we're all out so I just stuck them in a potato so that the little guy could switch the hats and hair around as he chose and in the end the acorn people went for a ride all around the house in their potato car.
