Getting Crafty for St Patty's Day
This weekend I realized it was time to admit that Valentines Day was over so I goggled some images of Leprechauns and talked to my daughter about how they guard the gold at the end of the rainbow. Then, we decided to recycle some cardboard to make our own rainbow!
It actually turned out to be a pretty educational project because we only had red, blue and yellow paint so we had to do some color mixing and we talked about the colors of a rainbow. I don't have any pictures of the cardboard before we started painting but I just drew a super simple rainbow and clouds and then cut it out. First she painted the rainbow, then she glued on the "clouds". After that, I cut out some "gold coins" which we attached to the string with tape - instant St. Patricks Day mobile!
Disclaimer: I had to convince my worried three year old that a small green man was NOT going to come into our house to take the gold because it was not a real rainbow. In hindsight, I can see how the idea of a Leprechaun would be creepy for a wee lass. Happy Saint Patricks Day!
