Public Phone turned to Public Garden!
phone booth garden at my brooklyn baby
When My Brooklyn Baby moved into 692 Fulton Street, I inherited a broken, ugly payphone in front of the store and when I joked with my landlord about turning it into a garden, he loved the idea. (of course he did, he owns Habana Outpost) Well time passed by, I got caught up in running a business and forgot all about the idea until a couple of weeks ago when I noticed that the phone was gone! I hurried to sketched out my idea, showed it to a handyman, purchased some plants and now my ugly payphone is a garden complete with sage, rosemary and thyme! The next time you're on Fulton Street waiting for the B52 and realize you forgot to pick up sage for your tenderloin... help yourself !
I'm still thinking about painting the entire booth to match the store but right now I'm digging the "urban decay meets urban garden" vibe that I have going on... what do you think?
Check back here tomorrow when I will be unveiling the "recycled rain boot" portion of my little garden on Fulton Street - here's a sneak peek. (it's to the right of the store front)
