Heart Felt Cards

Most arts and crafts sessions in our house are unplanned so we have to make do with the supplies on hand. In this case it was felt scraps leftover from hair clips I made for the store, but I think it could work well with any fabric or paper scrap you have lying around.

I drew a heart on a folded piece of paper and painted inside the lines with a thick layer of white craft glue. Next, I gave her the felt and asked her to fill in the heart. This sort of activity is really great for their concentration and fine motor skills - we make a lot of collages at home for this very reason (plus it buys mommy some quiet time).

After she had filled in the heart, there were some gaps so I let her fill in the spaces with glitter because she is like a magpie when it comes to glitter. And there your have it - our "heart felt" card.  Take a look in your recycling bin and see what kind of collage materials you can find.
